Favorite Artist

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci is my favorite artist because...

* His art reminds me of the people in the past

* I like how neatly the painting is because its realistic

* The colors are both light and dark in every painting

* He paints mostly woman

* His paintings are sometimes indoors and mostly outdoors

* The men and women sort of look alike

Ernie Barnes is another favorite

"The high aspirations" painting reminds me of the time when children at my middle school played basketball on the outside courts during lunch. In the front of the painting, a man is shooting basketball. There is a house in the background of the painting. In the painting, there are unusually shaped features like the arm and basketball pole. The house appears far away from the man and has a long way to walk home.

"The Palace barber shop" painting reminds me of going to the barber shop with my dad to get a haircut.  There are plenty of men inside the barber shop. Two Men are playing a game of chess, two men and a boy are getting haircuts, and four men are waiting for their turn. There are posters, flags, and a TV on the walls of the barber shop. Like my barber shop, it's usually loud inside.

"The Lift Every voice" painting reminds me of the home alone 2 movie when Kevin and the kids sing a christmas song. I see a man in the front of the painting directing the performers. The painter used darker colors like black, dark purple, tan, brown, and some light colors to show contrast. The performers appear to be singing loudly.

I can use darker and light colors to show more contrast in my art. I can also draw more irregular shapes like the arm in the high aspirations or the oval shaped faces in the lift every voice, and add more details in the back of my drawings.
