Importance of fatherhood

Welcome

Welcome to our Fatherhood Program, where we celebrate the vital role that fathers play in shaping the lives of their children. We believe that every father has the power to make a lasting impact on their child's future. We at BTB support his mission and want to

The Effect of a Home without a Father

The fact of a home without a father is quite a common scene, though many psychological and mental issues come from not having a father in the household. According to The Census Bureau, there are over 10 million single-family households in America (in 2022), the question is if there are so many situational circumstances that come with the "Why" when it comes to missing fathers in a household, the question turns instead to what are the commonalties to these circumstantial situations?

Early Effect on Single Mothers

A home without a father means that the mothers in the household have to work harder to support their children, this means the mother has to work extended hours outside of the regularly allotted time to earn enough to support their child. With the current economic climate of America, this is becoming more and more difficult. Without a second hand in the job, the child might be put into a daycare or someplace else that the mother won't be present in, establishing early on the physiological effect of not being raised by their parents, this is supported even more by the development of emotional issues which can hinder children from developing friendships and bonds with their peers.

Displaced Role Model

The absence of a father figure is more than the physical presence of a father but the displacement of a good male role model, the need for a positive role model who can help guide a child through their childhood and develop cognitive skills that they will use for the rest of their life is extremely important to a child's growing mind. without a male figure in their life difficulties can arise, such as not being able to regulate their emotions as well as not learning self-confidence, which can all affect a child's view of the world giving them a disadvantage.

Poor School Performance

Some research has shown that children who grew up in a fatherless household were more likely to drop out of college than those who grew up in 2 parent households, they also show that those kids are less likely to reach for higher education,  this, of course, would disadvantage them when it comes to finding jobs in the future, a lot of modern jobs that are conventionally seen a successful need some sort of higher education, due to this disadvantage the prevalence of something worse starts to pop up, poverty.

Planning to Lead

Role Modeling

Fathers who lead by example teach their children valuable lessons about responsibility, accountability, and integrity. By demonstrating strong leadership qualities, fathers instill important values and qualities in their children that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Setting Goals

A father with a plan provides direction and purpose for his family. Setting goals and working towards them together instills a sense of ambition, perseverance, and achievement in children. It teaches them the importance of goal-setting and the satisfaction of reaching milestones.

Communication

Creating a plan to lead involves open communication within the family. Fathers who engage in meaningful conversations with their children about goals, values, and aspirations foster strong bonds and trust. Effective communication builds a supportive and nurturing environment where children feel heard, understood, and valued.

Building Confidence

When fathers take the lead in planning and decision-making, they empower their children to become confident and self-assured individuals. Knowing that their father has a plan in place gives children a sense of security and stability, boosting their self-esteem and belief in their own abilities.

Teaching Responsibility

A father who leads by creating a plan teaches his children the importance of taking responsibility for their actions and choices. By involving children in the planning process and assigning age-appropriate tasks, fathers instill a sense of ownership and accountability in their children, preparing them for adulthood.

Adaptability

Creating a plan to lead requires flexibility and adaptability. Fathers who demonstrate resilience and problem-solving skills in the face of challenges teach their children the importance of adaptability and resourcefulness. They show that setbacks are opportunities for growth and learning.

Family Cohesion

A well-thought-out plan helps to strengthen family bonds and cohesion. When fathers involve their children in the planning process and consider their needs and desires, it fosters a sense of unity and teamwork within the family. It creates a shared vision and purpose that brings the family closer together.
